Story Behind This Painting: This owl is a Barred Owl that I saw and photographed while on a trip in Canada. I loved the light catching his soft, fluffy feathers on his head and shoulders. I decided to create a blurred background of fall colors to contrast the owl’s neutral coloring. I wanted to highlight the owls very direct look in the act of listening for something that I couldn’t hear.
