Story Behind This Painting: I was teaching a workshop for the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. During a break, I noticed two Mute Swans in the lake outside of their venue. Later in the day, I took multiple reference shots with my digital camera as the swans were bathing. This shot stood out because the spray of the water and the motion of the bird’s wings added movement and drama to the scene. This scene likely plays out every day. By stopping the action of the bird and the water spray, I can freeze a moment in time and show its beauty to the world.
